Trailer proposal decision delayed by planning concerns

Hewly Sworn commissioners Tony DiAngelo and Don Fringer voted against action on a mobile home park project due to lack of background. Cashmark offered a cautious memo saying it does not strongly favor or oppose the plan, while recommending no better alternative. Opposing view came from Andrew Alkema who warned the plan departs from the general plan and could unrecognizably alter the city by 1985. The city’s first trailer coach park, approved earlier, sits on a Meare site near Nimitz Freeway and Cedar Boulevard. Public works officials opposed abandonment without area development. Planning Director Cashmark prepared a resolution supporting the trailer coach park, but commissioners were reluctant to act, with one noting nine spaces per acre is not a position to grant the proposal.
