Newark Fire Claims Boy In Four Bedroom Home
A 15 year old boy, David Bruce McCollum, died in a Newark house fire at 35072 Brandywine Drive. His older brother Michael, 12, escaped with smoke inhalation. mother Bonnie Rice and Michael were treated and released. Firefighters battled the blaze from 2:54 a.m. to 3:11 a.m. The cause is under investigation, with damage estimated at 40 000 dollars to the structure and 15 000 to contents. The family received aid from neighbors, Red Cross, St. Vincent de Paul, and Salvation Army while Lincoln School prepared a charity drive.
