Power plants gain PUC approval for four Geothermal Units
San Francisco reports the California Public Utilities Commission cleared four Geothermal power units at the Geysers Power Plant to begin commercial operation. Units 7, 8, 9 and 10, each generating about 55,090 kilowatts, will start by 1973 with PG&E and Thermal Union handling drilling and construction costs pegged at 25.4 million dollars. Commercial operation for units 7 and 8 slated for 1972, while 9 and 10 follow in 1973.
