Debate erupts at California State College Hayward over alleged Black Panthers infiltration of the BSU and campus discrimination claims. Protests urge faculty action while civil rights officials review possible 1964 Civil Rights Act violations amid tensions between white and Black student groups.
Fremont based SASSO the Southern Mameda Spanish Speaking Organization received 44240 in federal funds for a low income housing project in Union City. The grant buds into a larger 1.2 million award to the Southern Alameda County Economic Opportunity Agency. SASSO sought 5.2 million and will use the money to finance groundwork and organizing for a federal subsidy under the Federal Housing Act of 1968.
The Southern Alamo County Economic Opportunity agency confirms a multi million dollar funding package for Head Start and related poverty programs through 1989. Officials say total operating budget nears two million with support from federal grants local agencies and the Department of Labor. The plan funds Head Start senior services youth programs and education manpower efforts serving hundreds of local children and families.

A Rosary for Lupe R Delgadillo, 33, who died Monday in Livermore, was said yesterday at Tremont Chapel of the Roses Mortuary in Fremont. A native of Mexico and 15 year Alameda County resident, he had lived in Fremont. He leaves his wife Sara and his brother Romito Delgadillo of Fremont. Burial will be in Mexico.

A dinner meeting is scheduled at 6 p.m. Thursday in Kennedy High School library. Alameda County Health Department reported a Hayward High School girl died Friday from meningococcus infection. Preventive treatment is advised only for very close contacts such as immediate family. There have been six meningitis cases in Alameda County this year, with two in Hayward, and the county normally records 11 to 27 cases annually.
