Arcadia Legionnaires Ready for American Legion Convention
Arcadia Legionnaires will take an active part in the national American Legion convention to be held in Los Angeles next month. Commander S. S. Stubbs announced at the Legion club house and outlined plans for Glenn Dyer Post No. 247 in a downtown Los Angeles hotel. The post’s building program received approval, including a 20 foot front extension with plans drawn immediately. Interest grew in the new indoor sport dart baseball as preparations began for league play within the post’s recreational program.

Former Arcadian Eliminated From Public Links Play
Former Arcadian Erickson, a Monrovia Arcadia Duarte high school graduate and former resident, fell to Yash Hromyak 1 up on the 19th in the first round at the National Public Links Championship in Cleveland. Bruce McCormick, last year’s champ from Los Angeles, also lost in sudden death on the 19th hole. Both players appeared on Arcadia County Park’s new course when public play began there. Erickson started golf on Arcadia’s balloon school course as greenskeeper.

Residents of Arcadia and Monrovia appealed to the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors for temporary immediate deepening of the Santa Anita wash channel from the foothills to the Rio Hondo. Construction Work Doubled at Santa Anita Track
The Santa Anita racetrack resumed building the clubhouse and paddock additions with double-shift construction from 8 a.m. to midnight ordered by track superintendent Herman Rod. An enlarged paddock and a 150-foot clubhouse extension aim to ease congestion and enhance patron comfort during the winter season. Dr. Charles H.
