Balloon Station Work Begins at Arcadia Site

Announcement confirms Arcadia as the government balloon school site with a 200 acre complex including the race track. John Regain will lead crews rebuilding the Spur. base facilities will include an admin building and hospital with an initial funding around 250000 dollars.

Plans Outlined for School Grounds Swimming Pool

A tentative plan for a 30 by 60 foot pool on First Avenue school grounds was shown to school board member F W Treen by Architect Lourdou. The pool will vary from 2 to 7 feet deep and be level with the ground with elevated approaches. A kiddies pool, men's and women's dressing rooms are included and construction may begin soon.

Sunday School Benefit in Arcadia to Show Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm

A Sunday school benefit is planned for Arcadia with a five reel film Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm starring Mary Pickford. The event at Colonial Moving Picture Theater Monrovia offers 3:30 matinee and 7 and 9 pm shows with proceeds supporting Arcadia South Santa Anita Duarte and Monrovia schools.

Earl Emery Cayer Dies at Two in South Santa Anita

Earl Emery Cayer, two year old son of Mr and Mrs Med Cayer, died at the family home in South Santa Anita last Friday. Funeral services were held Saturday from the Catholic church in Monrovia, with community sympathy extended.

THINK GAS KILLED BEES AT MERCER APIARY NEAR ARCADIA

PTA Meeting At First Avenue School Friday

The Parent-Teachers association will meet at the First Avenue school at 3 o clock on Friday March 15. Assistant Superintendent Wheat visited the First Avenue school Tuesday afternoon last week. Donkey Auction At Huntington Ball Raises Funds For War Camp

Pasadena Star News recounts a Hotel Huntington charity ball raising about $7,800 for the Pasadena war camp fund. A donkey sold for $805, an Airedale terrier for $2,500, and a Boston Bull dog for $1,600, with stars Wallace Reid and Mrs Reid donating the pet. The event lasted until near daylight with entertainment by Charlie Murray and Dustin Farnum.
