The Alabama state Democratic executive committee met and canvassed the August primary results showing Wilson with 18 874 votes and Garber 16 379 out of 35 253 total, a 2495 majority. Man Shot Near Union Station in Suspected Black Attack
Hamp Hanson was shot with a .38 caliber pistol by a mulatto assailant near the union passenger station. The single close range shot struck the left chest, traversed the lung, and burned clothing. Hanson, with two companions, confronted three negroes after asking them to play instruments as they walked along the tracks. He is improving at home and police pursue the suspect.
