Special to the Star reports a dynamite blast at Jellico causing extensive destruction. Death toll rises to 15 with 100 injuries. most hurt lightly. Downtown business and warehouses along the Louisville Nashville line are ruined, estimated property loss at $1,000,000. Five unidentified bodies found. listed dead include Walter Rodgers, John Gardner, John Cook and George Atkins.
From Havana Enfoques a dispatch says American blue jackets aboard Martha garrisoning Soledad sugar plantation were fired on by rebels. The Americans returned fire and the rebels fled. Also reported are arrivals of battleships Virginia and Louisiana and cruisers Tacoma and Cleveland in Havana with Dixie sent to Santo Domingo. Minneapolis and Newark expected soon.
A Jellico Tennessee blast on the Louisville and Nashville tracks destroyed Standard Oil tanks and several buildings. Authorities report between 70 and 100 people killed as the explosion opened a huge crater and shattered glass for miles.
William Jennings Bryan spoke to about 500 Birmingham residents from the Union Depot platform. Mayor Kilby introduced him, and Bryan shortened his remarks to fit a 15 minute window amid train delays. He praised Democratic ideals and contrasted Southern enthusiasm with Republican verbosity.

In New York, Sept 21, Senator Brackett announced in surrogate's court that there would be no contest to the Sage millions will as executors and heirs reach a settlement. After probate, Mrs Sage’s lawyer said beneficiaries will receive additional amounts equal to the original legacies.
Mr Bryan reports a more enthusiastic reception during his current visit than eight years ago. He recalls his last visit and notes the strong reception follows him wherever he goes, though an extended interview was not possible due to the rush.

Walter Parks of Alabama City was arrested on a perjury charge by his father-in-law R. B. Wilson after swearing his wife was 18 when a marriage license was taken out. The couple's marriage prompted the dispute and Parks remained jailed in default of bail, with a possible out-of-court settlement expected.
