Thomas Burns paid 21 shillings for an old hull at Sea wall and, with diver Edward Leahy, uncovered $18,000 in gold coins from a brig named Barberry that sank seventy years ago. Coins mostly Spanish, some stamped Republic del Colombia, dates 1817 and 1824. Burns, once poor, becomes village’s wealthiest man.

Mrs J Vs Wear died at her Jacksonville home yesterday at noon after a brief illness. The funeral will be held this afternoon with interment in Jacksonville cemetery. She was an aunt of Hor OZ Henderson, mayor of Anviston, and was widely esteemed.
