For the first time in two months the whistle at the big car works plant sounded this morning signaling a partial reopening. Foremen timekeepers and several workers were on site and full operation is expected tomorrow except the rolling mill and foundry. About six hundred workers will be employed and current contracts promise months of work.

CuicaGco Sept 16 Charles Pfister of Mayaville Kentucky a friend of Cassius M Clay and John Fremont and an abolitionist of note died at his son Walter Pfister home He was 81 years old a lumber merchant for thirty years the sole Maysville voter for Fremont in 1856 and one of six who voted for Lincoln in 1860 The five others were burned in effigy but Pfister was spared for voting on principle He built Forest Hill commanding the Ohio river five miles and turned it over to the Union army without pay later compensated by Congress He once arranged a meeting where General O M Clay spoke with revolvers in each hand.
