The U S Court of Appeals in Cincinnati certified to the Supreme Court a wage claim priority dispute arising from Shropshire Woodliff & Co. v trustees of the Southern Car and Foundry Co. The case from Anniston asks if an assignment of wages earned before bankruptcy merits priority under section 64 4 of the Bankruptcy Act. The amount involved is about 3000 dollars. expect Supreme Court instruction this fall.
The Post reports a private tip that William Jennings Bryan will stay in the United States only about three weeks after returning from a circumnavigation, then head to Australia to study and write on political and economic conditions. Milwaukee August 13 The Fraternal Order of Eagles holds its annual national convention in Milwaukee with four days of sessions starting tomorrow. Hotel registers show as many as 20000 attendees from across the United States, and downtown streets are heavily decorated for the event.
Des Moines welcomes delegates for the seventh annual reunion of the Army of the Philippines. Officers and men who served prior to July 4, 1902 join state troops federal volunteers and regulars. The opening session heard greetings from Governor Cummins Mayor Patten Commander-in-Chief Alfred Frost and a Roosevelt message. Continuous coverage on page eight.
Police report a dramatic manhunt as searchlights swept the area to locate a despondent man. Vivid beams scanned streets and alleys while officers cordoned off the vicinity, urging the individual to surrender for his safety.
