Brief Services Held Today for Mrs. Davis at Hotel

Funeral party scheduled to begin tonight for Richmond as brief services concluded at the hotel.

Pall Bearers Appointed for Mrs. Jefferson Davis Funeral

Brief services for the late Mrs. Jefferson Davis were held at the Hotel Majestic New York attended by relatives and friends. The body ships to Richmond at 9 30 p m with a guard of honor from the Sons of Confederate Veterans. General Stephen D Lee will command the ceremonies in Richmond with a general suspension of business expected.

Theatre Stampede Threatens Audience During A Millionaire Tramp

Last night at Noble Street theatre a scene in A Millionaire Tramp caused an incipient stampede as Dr Staley dies in the plot. Manager Flower apologized while Ezra Trumbull burst in. the audience roared and chaos followed amid hoots from gallery and Negro patrons. The play was curtailed.

Football Here As Per New Rules

One-Mill Tax Elevates County School Funding

County Superintendent H. T. Persons and the county school board have completed the annual apportionment, showing about $1,000 more for schools than last year. Including Anniston, total apportionment is around $10,500 up from $9,156, with minimum district apportionments of $227, or $32.50 per month for seven months, or $37.90 for six months. The Francis E Willard school in Piedmont illustrates the rise, receiving $1,727.86 this year versus $1,349.45 last year, an increase of $378.41, credited to the one-mill tax.

Secretary of War Taft arrived in Washington after midnight and spoke with reporters about Cuba. He urged faith in the future of the Cubans and patience to restore order from the six weeks of revolution, saying results so far are promising. Notables at Sam Jones Funeral in Cartersville Ga

Prominent ministers and religious figures attended the Sam Jones funeral in Cartersville. Pallbearers included Mayor Paul Gilreath and J. W. Knight.
