An 19th century ad promotes 40 as a blood purifier claiming to cure numerous ailments from pimples to rheumatism. It asserts skin and glandular health benefits, and that copper spots and ulcers disappear. The maker is J C Mendenhall, a 40 year Evansville druggist, with Scarborough Drug Co selling the product.
Lieut. Robert W. Chapman of Montgomery died after being thrown from a horse at El Paso. A prominent young architect, he entered the first officers training camp at Fort McPherson and earned a commission in field artillery.
Joe Montgomery is named receiver for the Anniston hotel at the corner of Tenth and Wilmer streets. He assumes control of the inter est and will run the hotel per court orders after two previous appointees declined. Montgomery recently sold his interest in the Smoke House, a venture he had operated for years.
Anniston notices claim a man near Atlanta expelled a 61 foot tapeworm after using Quaker Herb Extract. The ad touts herbal formula for stomach and kidney troubles and urges readers to visit the store at 1025 Noble for samples and pricing.
