Members of the United Daughters of the Confederacy convened for their annual gathering with speeches, ceremonies, and community tributes highlighting Confederate heritage and historical preservation efforts.
The United Daughters of the Confederacy held its annual convention at the Great Southern hotel in Gulfport Mississippi with delegates from twenty states. Greetings and organization formed the day’s work and a major item is the Virginia chapter’s push to join in building a Daughters of the Confederacy structure at the Jamestown exposition.

Clerk I E Watson announced the docket for the next Circuit Court session will close on November 19 with no new trial cases accepted in December. In Gainesville on November 14 Mary Smith daughter of farmer Martin Smith died when a railroad torpedo exploded while she tried to crack it open. Her mother and brother nearby were uninjured.
