Mrs. Howard Gould sues for separation charging her husband’s improper habits. The suit accompanies a sensational divorce case with an investigation into Howard Gould’s use of headquarters detectives against Mrs. Gould. District Attorney Jerome and Police Commissioner Bingham discuss possible grand jury action on conspiracy theories.
The business section of Columbus Ga decorated in honor as the Georgia I O O F begins its annual grand encampment today. The grand lodge and the Rebekah assembly are set to meet tomorrow.
May 21 Montevallo Alabama Dean Thomas W Palmer of the University of Alabama has been elected president of the Alabama girls industrial school. The board created the office of vice president and elected J Alexander Moore to the position.
A site on Eleventh Street in Gurnee is chosen for a large onion warehouse. Deal details near completion with minor points to settle, officials expect quick agreement.
A Buffalo and Cleveland special derailed east of Little Falls New York when an eastbound freight was thrown from the track by a pile of stones. The westbound special struck the wreckage at 60 mph killing baggage man Finley and injuring several others.

Capias and federal indictment issued for former Anniston postmaster James Madison Ragan. Officials expect Ragan and accomplice Roberts to be returned to Anniston soon, with Ragan allegedly confessing identity and guilt. Embezzlement totals cited at 3077.10 with possible ten year maximum.
Captain A A Jett reported the death of Charlie Bell formerly of this city. He was severely injured several days ago while working in the pipe shops and his death came as a sudden shock to those who knew him.
Four crew members died when the lake steamer Naomi burned in Grand Haven Michigan on May 21. One passenger J M Rhoades also died from injuries and several other passengers are feared drowned after leaping overboard.
The program for the Sunday school workers meeting of Anniston and Oxford at First Methodist Church spans Thursday and Friday with devotional services, teacher training, and practical sessions. It includes talks by Rev A G Spinks Mrs Belt White Rev W A Daniel and Rev J G Anderson, plus sessions on house to house canvass led by Rev T K Roberts and broader business topics led by Matt E W Ledbetter Chas R Bell and L H Carre. All teachers are urged to attend and participate in canvassing activities.
Capias issued by the District Court of the United States Northern District of Alabama orders the U S Marshal to arrest James Madison Ragan if found in Colorado for indictment under postal laws. The writ, dated May 20 1907, is witnessed by Judge Oscar R Hundley and Clerk Charles J Allison.
Washington dispatch reports a new push by temperance advocates to prohibit liquor in the District of Columbia when Congress convenes in December. The piece notes lobbyist pressure from whisky and beer interests in the last Congress and pledges renewed efforts to drive John Barleycorn from the capital.

Executives J M Barr Ernest Williams and J T Carrington met at the Alabama hotel to approve routine actions since the March 18 startup. The final transfer of deeds to Woodstock iron property is expected in New York this week. Plant produced about 150 tons of pig iron daily last month. larger furnace faces raw material shortages. Barr and Williams stayed in the city to protect plant interests with Carrington.
Washington May 21 A reciprocity agreement has been concluded between the United States and the Netherlands. Secretary Root and Minister Van Swinderen signed the pact which provides a 25 percent duty remission on spirits and branches imported from Holland in exchange for equivalent benefits to the United States.
Dr Len G Broughton is billed to lecture at the Noble Street Theater Monday evening May 27 under Parker Memorial Garnean Bible class auspices. The lecture titled Down to the Dumps may be delivered amid a list of attendees and injuries reported from the event. Sixteen injured aboard a Macon line coach near Hillsboro include four serious cases with passengers from Athens and nearby regions en route to the state grand lodge.
In Birmingham on May 21 the street car union presented a recognition demand to President Robert Jemison of Birmingham Railway Light and Power Company. He refused to operate under the union. Cars run on all lines today but stop at night. Saloon openings planned for Wednesday pending compliance. No disorder reported.
Birmingham May 21 Authorities bolster peace duties as nearly 100 extra policemen and many deputy sheriffs patrol the city and suburbs. Mayor Ward closes saloons and bans street gatherings as the Bir Company faces a union drive. Samuel Gompers to aid in settlement if possible.
Jim Brown a Market Street barber shot and killed Peter Heard in Hobson City Park while trying to kill a negro woman. He fled but was arrested that morning and jailed. Eyewitnesses say Brown had threatened the woman earlier and fired a revolver toward her as a crowd moved away on an electric car.
