Capt John B McDonald wounded in lungs after leading Third Cavalry against insurgents in Abra province last week. One private killed. McDonald, brother of Mrs H D Barr of Anniston, well known there. Third Cavalry includes many Alabamians like Whit Crook. Further word from Alexander City confirms wound not serious.
Washington May 1 Two cablegrams from General McArthur at Manila report Tinio's surrender at Sinait and the complete pacification of the first department Northern Luzon. Also noted are surrenders by Cols Ciprano Gallao and Greegero Katibae Malvars to Col Jacob Kline at Lipa with officers and men and rifles.
At the Tuskegee opera house last night a pistol slipped from Sheriff Conner’s pocket and discharged. The bullet struck the chair and upper thigh of Mr. Donner, then lodged in Mr. Danner. doctors have not yet located it. The weapon was a 38 caliber Smith and Wesson improved. The wound is painful but not fatal.
The Woodstock Tron works show activity with a washer moved up the hill and a new spur track built to the site. An idle furnace pump is to be moved and used at a washer. The stockholders met at 2 PM with most stock represented by proxy but no business details released. J W Woolfolk attended from New York and A L Tyler reportedly did not sell his stock and will stay in the company.
The Anniston Knitting Mill will start operations this month with A. L. Tyler Jr. named general manager. Tyler will resign from the Central Foundry Co. Annis ton plant to devote his efforts to the new venture of which he is a principal owner. The successor at the pipe plant is to be announced from the New York office soon. Resignation may take effect around May 15. unverified.

Early morning crash at Calera involving Birmingham and Anniston through freight and an Anniston division Southern freight left one engine demolished and five cars from each train wrecked. Engineer Smith and other crew badly scalded. reports later said Mayinee Sunich died from injuries.
