Frankfort March 23 Two hostile camps face off as four Republican suspects in the Goebel murder case await examination Beckham commands 200 soldiers and deputies while Taylor leads 250 militia Sergeant Golden enters the courthouse secretly after midnight and is said to have come to confess his ties to Powers and the assassination authorities say more names may emerge.
Gen. Castleman arriving from Frankfurt reports civil authorities have ample force to maintain peace. Preparations complete. If unable to prevent unrest he and Gen. Collier will cooperate under an understanding to avert trouble.
A Springfontain despatch to the Times warns of wary Free Staters in British-occupied lands. It notes their temper appears cautious as Boer tactics may echo Afridi precedents, with many inferior weapons surrendered yet Burghers seen as heavily armed with Mausers.
In official county returns McCraw 746, Woodruff 1113, Davis 975, Hughes 750 with Woodruff and Davis leading. The Democratic committee will canvass at noon, while Woodruff edges McCraw for sheriff and Davis beats Hughes for commissioner in the Fourth district.

In city court Troutt versus Caook sought 10000 dollars for alleged false imprisonment. Judge Lapsley directed a verdict for the defendant and the jury returned it. N G Canning of Gadsden represented Troutt while W P Acker acted for Judge Crook.
Ottawa reports the government plans to resume negotiations on the Alaskan boundary after Congress adjourns. The item notes movement toward talks as the session ends.

M B Hayes telegraph operator for the Anniston Brokerage Company and H B Groves visiting in Anniston were arrested in Atlanta on charges of obtaining money under false pretenses and larceny by check. The alleged scheme involved a 20 check cashed by George Eagle on a First National Bank of Atlanta account that did not exist. Hayes allegedly carried away a company typewriter. The two men may return to Anniston with a Georgia officer tonight.
