Gang activity includes shell games counterfeiting and staged arrest ruses from the South and West Sides to North Side streets.
The Heflin New Era reports local gold mining in Cleburne is modestly profitable. Sam Alien, a negro brakeman on the Southern running between Atlanta and Birmingham, was badly injured near the old G P depot Saturday night about 10. He got caught between two cars while coupling the air brake hose and his left leg was broken in three places. He was taken to a Birmingham hospital where doctors said the leg would have to be amputated.
