Union Associated Press reports a major battle in the Dordrecht area with the British driving Boers from advance positions at Labaschagne neck after overnight fighting. British troops reportedly captured Boer trenches and bivouacked after a day of heavy action.
A Union Associated Press report from London dated March 5 states President Kruger has issued a proclamation urging all burghers to stand firm and strive in the name of the Lord. He warns that without faith cowardice would take hold, their position would be hopeless, and the country could be turned over to the enemy.
A Times dispatch from Lorenzo Marquez dated Sunday reports persistent news that the Transvaal government has opened negotiations for peace. Boers may stand at Glencoe and Laingsnek while Pretoria entrenchments are extended in anticipation of a siege.
