A crafty con man posing as a cashier duped townsfolk by showing checks signed by R B Garner. The forger used the name and an innocent appearance to lure victims and cash several sums from J R Moore. Garner repudiated the handwriting after being shown the checks.
In Cartersville Georgia Bartow County cast 1715 votes against whiskey and 84 for sale of whisky securing prohibition. Women and children organized and prayed at polls with banners reading Vote as You Would Pray God Sees You. Approximately 400 children marched with signs urging a prohibition vote.
James Douglas Mills, a young black man, allegedly stole a bank checkbook from Lula King. He drew $9 from her National Bank account using a check sent by his aunt, then spent the money. He admitted the theft to officers and faces grand jury action.
The Canadian lacrosse team sailing today for Australia plans a world tour unprecedented in sport. They will play across regions under the Union Jack starting in Honolulu then Savva Fiji Islands before reaching Brisbane mid July. Rome Ga June 21 Ward a farmer near Summerville in Chattooga county marries the day after his first wife is buried. Mrs Ward reportedly died last Saturday and was buried in the family plot in Semionole district. Ward says he promised on her deathbed to marry the nurse the next day.
Malcolm C. Hall a Montgomery Alabama merchant caused the arrest of A D Gore aged 38 on a forgery charge. Police say Gore forged the name Byron Smith of Montgomery on a 690 dollar check on March 22 1905 Hall paid Gore 200 dollars and was to be paid the rest later Gore fled and was later tracked after a friend of Hall saw him with his wife and mother at a railroad depot in Chicago.
President Roosevelt gave his first luncheon at Sagamore Hill this afternoon. Guests included United States Circuit Judge H. G. Ward of New York, Herbert Knox Smith commissioner of corporations, Alfred W. Cooley assistant United States attorney general and Robert Bridges of Scribner’s Magazine.

The Gaither family of five and witnesses faced Recorder Greene in police court for a disturbance last night in furnace row. Evidence showed alcohol influence and a fight at a society dance. Pete Gaither had a bandaged head and a bloody shirt. Body Morris used a gun but caused no serious injury and paid $12.70. The family faced aggregate fines of $28.50.
In Chattanooga Tennessee on June 21 the vote for a city owned water plant carried 1627 to 107. The proposal to issue 900000 dollars in bonds to buy or build the plant was nearly unanimously approved by voters.
