The sixth annual Trans Mississsippi Golf Association championship opened at the Field club grounds in Omaha with a large field of entrants from cities such as St. Louis Fargo Lincoln and Denver. Early rounds included medal play qualifying for the amateur championship with 18 holes in the morning and 18 holes in the second half after a 1:30 pm start. The lowest medal score determined the overall winner with subsequent rounds to decide directors and secretary prizes as the tournament runs through the week.
The Republican state convention met in Montpelier to nominate candidates for governor and other state offices for September elections. Fletcher D. Proctor, son of U S Senator Redfield Proctor, is expected to receive the gubernatorial nomination.
