A fierce thunderstorm with heavy rain in Pittsburg on July 29 caused three deaths and extensive property damage. Victims include Mrs. Kate Walsh and two Italian workers from Unity who perished under trees and by a high structure. Several workers were injured but expected to recover as about fifty buildings and structures were struck.
Hollis B. Parrish a young attorney shot and killed George Leonard a brick layer yesterday at 6 45 p m on the rear of an Owens car crossing Third Alley Twentieth street Leonard had been arrested by Policeman Nix when Parrish reached toward Leonard and fired Parrish is son of Rev L Parrish and brother of Rev S J Parrish of Oxford Methodist church

A cable from Walter Williams in Berne reports the International Press Congress has unanimously accepted an invitation to hold its 1903 session at the World's Fair Grounds in St. Louis. The gathering will include 300 delegates from twenty countries and represents about 15,000 newspaper workers, with European editors highly prominent.

Birmingham July 29 The conductor J B Brooks of the Louisville and Nashville railroad halted his train at Canasteta inviting 75 passengers and the engineer to a rear coach where he stood as best man for Washington Williams and Mise Ella Lave of Village Springs. The ceremony was performed by Rev G G Miller aboard the train as the couple traveled to Birmingham for their wedding visit.
