Postmaster L. T. Swith received a telegram from Congressman Bowie stating the post office department has approved an extra carrier for Oxanna. This allow Fifth ward residents to receive free mail service and improves local delivery.
Mr. L. H. Kaplan transfers a desirable lot on Wilmer avenue between Seventh and Eighth streets in Nashville to Mr. Schwartz of Nashville. Schwartz plans business in Anniston and will build a home on the site.
The Famous launches a semi annual sale with thousands of dollars of high grade spring goods offered at 25 percent off regular prices. The event begins tomorrow morning and follows weeks of reduced pricing on seasonable apparel.
Special Telegram reports from Johnstown Pa that eighty two bodies were recovered from the Cambria Steel mine ruins after yesterday’s explosion. Authorities fear about two hundred may still be trapped. A temporary morgue is at the armory as anxious relatives gather. Miners blame naked lights for the blast.
In JounTown a mine explosion at the Cambria Steel Company rolling mill near Westmont La yesterday afternoon left a large, uncertain death toll likely reaching 200 or more. Rescue work continues as families mourn and await further word on fatalities.
