Fire destroys depot and freight cars at Montgery
A fire at 5:30 pm destroyed part of the Western of Alabama freighthouse in Montgery. Forty five first class freight cars and 15 loaded side cars were badly damaged. Valuable records and receipts were lost. Loss estimated at $100,000. Firemen saved the right wing of the depot and offices. Switch engines pulled remaining engines and freight clear of the yards. Origin of the fire unknown.
