Special to the Star Vienna January 30 The 18th anniversary of Crown Prince Rudolphs death was marked by large crowds at the palace chapel and Capuchin church near his tomb beside Empress Elizabeth. The emperor and other imperial family members visited the tomb and laid many wreaths.
The New York state medical society opened its annual meeting in Albany and urged the legislature to amend medical practice laws. They seek consolidation of three state examining boards into a single standard exam, reflecting the three principal medical schools.
Today ends the citys vigilant campaign against scarlet fever begun April 12 of last year. The first case was found then and the last patient house has been fumigated marking the cities declared freedom from contagion. Mr J T Lehman of Lehman Manufacturing Co left for Atlanta to close large contracts. The plant has doubled its workforce and added a modern dipping system, blower for shaving removal, electric lighting, and steam heating in six months.

A large Birmingham delegation met with Governor Comer and the committee chairman Senator Lusk to oppose the employers liability bill and a separate measure to bar Sunday freight trains. The governor and the senator assured the group they do not wish to hurt the Birmingham district.
Governor D. Heyward of South Carolina spoke to the Alabama Senate and House, urging limited immigration and arguing that Negro labor should stay in the South where opportunities are stronger. He noted the South’s great need for workers and spoke after a recess.
