Denver officials estimate the Destoro wreck death toll will not exceed 25 while Denver newspapers report up to 70 as confirmatory tallies. At Dotsero in Glenwood Springs the collision of Denver & Rio Grande’s No. 5 passenger train and a freight train left about fifty dead and thirty injured, with twenty bodies recovered early today and most victims unrecognizable. The day coach carried fifty passengers. only one survivor, a woman, is believed to remain. The engineer, who attempted to switch to a siding, was killed.

Four killed in collision on Sterling & Peoria line
Four men died and two were injured in an early head on collision between two freight trains on the Sterling and Peoria branch of the Northwestern railroad near Sterling.
