Mr N W Tolbert a physician from sable shade was fined eight dollars in police court this morning for practicing medicine without a license. Evidence showed Tolbert had been conducting medical acts to earn money but lacked proper licensing. Greene after hearing testimony assessed a total fine of 103.90 dollars.
Dr. D R Brower told a Chicago audience last night that Hottentots live in the city and warned against heredity shaping society. He contrasted brain images of a Hottentot and a German savant to argue for laws guiding inherited traits. The talk at the Chicago Public Library urged modern measures to curb perceived genetic defects.

The contract for erecting a new two story building on East Tenth street was awarded to Thomas Wolsoncroft with painting and decor by Cohen. The City Grocery ny will occupy the nearby former site, and W. O. Treadaway plans his own use. The finish is due by April 1, with the project expected to enhance the area and tenant convenience.
Attorney General William R. Jackson filed in the New York supreme court to oust Mayor George B. McClellan on grounds that William R. Hearst had been legally elected. McClellan served with the notice at his office amid surprise.

Kline as Cassius with a strong Antony speech and ghost scene, though Caesar’s populace crowd is below par.
In Zanesville Ohio on January 7 members of the national executive committee convened by call of Commander in chief R B Brown to discuss upcoming organizational agenda and decisions.
Ernest Ward, long known for crimes inside and outside the city jail, faces another 83 days after fines and renewed confinement. He tunneled through a brick wall and was caught by Warden Alley. Recorder Greene imposed 16.50 and noted the crime spree extends months, with prior fines totaling 60 and 11.50.
In Oporto on January 7, the Moller Company, Portugal's largest cotton and wool importer, has failed. Several officers are fugitives and warrants are out. The collapse involves two workers houses and leaves liabilities around 700000 with assets unavailable.
Judge J. G. Wilson of this city has sold his farm interests and controlling shares in the J. C. Wilson Mercantile Company at Lincoln and now contemplates relocating. His sons J and W O Wilson purchased the merchandise business and will operate under the family firm name. He may move to Birmingham but will stay if a suitable business opens in Lincoln.
