In New York juror No. 11's wife, Mrs. Bolton, lies gravely ill with double pneumonia. The Thaw trial is adjourned as Bolton visits his wife, raising the possibility of a mistrial if she dies or remains critically ill, delaying proceedings for days.
In New York on February 13 District Attorney Jerome and California attorney Delmas clashed in the Thaw trial. Delmas objected to remarks by Jerome arguing facts not in evidence. Jerome accused Delmas of trying to taint jurors with sensational statements about Evelyn Nesbit in 1903.

A meeting of the board of missions of the Mississippi conference of the Methodist church opened in Jackson today and will continue tomorrow. Officials outlined plans for the conference's missionary work for the current year.
Knights of Pythias adjourned at midnight after a Gadsden meeting. Albertville will host the August district convention, with Anniston contending for entertaining duties. Delegates from local lodges praised the event and a late start shortened the program. L. H. Greer of Choctococco remains president by appointment. new officers include Major D. H. Smith of Oxford and J. B. Emmet of Albertville as vice presidents and C. P. Ward as fourth vice president with W. F. Stripling elected secretary.

Washington Feb 13 The house passed a bill to create a judge for the Northern judicial district of Alabama. The president would appoint the judge with full powers and compensation, and the judge would reside in Birmingham while holding court at Anniston Birmingham Huntsville and Tuscaloosa.
A brief note states Leighton avenue was emptied in a couple of minutes, with witnesses noting swift evacuation and orderly departure sealing the street for a short interval.

Augusta Ga Feb 13 The South Atlantic baseball league aims for its most successful season since formation. League magnates reported brighter outlook after a closed session this morning despite limited details shared.
Annie Alford eleven, daughter of Mr and Mrs James Alford, was badly burned about the face and head when a celluloid comb in her hair ignited yesterday. Family members moved quickly to remove the comb, a physician was called, and the girl was reported resting comfortably not in danger.
Residents report great grizzled bears seen along Eleventh Street from Noble to Market. They climbed telegraph poles in front of the Star office and rattled workers with noisy, aggressive behavior. Monkeys and snakes were also described by some observers, amplifying the unusual disturbance in the area.
