Porter Defies Officers in Georgia Alabama Killing Rampage
Crawford, Columpus, Ga., Dec. 28. Uriah Per shot Joseph Fincher in his store then fired at Miss Thompson, cousin of Mrs. Fincher, narrowly missing her head. Porter, armed with a shotgun and Winchester rifle, sat in the road guarding the Fincher residence and later ransacked the store. Mrs Fincher and others hid in a ditch as Porter searched for them, rumbling through the area in a drunken frenzy. The sheriff went to the scene but details remain unclear. The group later sheltered in a ditch while Porter passed by. The carnage and fear grip the community as Porter's behavior appears crazed by drink.
