Washington December 11 The Interstate Commerce Commission is expected to issue an opinion granting the railroads a five per cent increase. The ruling would add fifty million dollars annually to railroad revenue. The opinion will be handed down next Tuesday.
The governor says he will pardon a large number of prisoners in the state penitentiary over the next three years. Clemen cy has already been shown to about thirteen hundred thirty men with only fifty remaining unpardoned. The governor plans to begin the new year with clemency in mind for a broad set of inmates.
Mobile, December 11. J Early Reaves, former bookkeeper of the New Parley Mentional Bank, was sentenced this morning to ten years in the federal penitentiary at Atlantic. He misappropriated about four thousand dollars.
Dec 11 report from Montgomery states Senator-elect G. Ernest Jones is a candidate for president pro tem of the Alabama senate. He traveled to Montgomery for a few hours and said he would not make grand claims before the senate convenes while contesting with Thomas L. Bulger and Oscar Lewis for the post.

He has worked for The Brontgon ery Advertiser and The Biscoingham News as political writer and city editor before his Birmingham posting. He previously taught at Howard high school.
