Long Term Convicts Escape From City Jail
Floyd Johnson and Charlie Gardner escaped from the city jail last night. They were two long term negro inmates of the city chain gang and fled through a hole in the wall near a basin in the jail hall. Authorities suspect they climbed to the cage top and slipped away after midnight. Johnson held a fine over $100 for swindling and Gardner served 120 days for a prior escape.
