Mrs Dane Faces Murder Trial For Husband’s Death

The trial of Mrs Sallie Dane for murder of her husband George A Dane by wood alcohol is concluded before Justice Elmore Garrett. Witnesses testified but no new facts emerged and Dane was bound over. The coroners jury previously attributed the death to poison believed wood alcohol given by the wife.

Mrs Dane alleges poisoning by a Black man in Anniston case

Mrs Dane told Star reporter in Justice Garretts office that her husband died after an alleged bottle contained only coffee and that a Black patron furnished him the alcohol. She claimed the bartender Bell detected the odor and allowed the husband to receive the bottle. She admitted drinking coffee in Bell's presence and said she knew the man who supplied the liquor.
