Rev. Sam P. Jones arrived from Cartersville and, with guest host Rev. Wasson, leads thrice daily gatherings at the auditorium. His daughter Mrs. Graham plays piano while L. R. Gilreath directs singing as about 3,000 attend the first service and hundreds are turned away.
Chief J Mays returns from Seddon after attending his father in law’s bedside and is sworn in by Mayor Henderson at noon. He takes charge of the force, succeeding Acting Chief Frank Bryan who had replaced J M Prather Saturday night.
The contract to erect a store room on the vacant lot west of the Iron Queen saloon was awarded this morning by R. B. Garner to contractor A. B. Smith. The old corrugated iron buildings were torn down and construction will begin immediately.

In Birmingham on April 15 Dr. Sanders, the state health officer, visited the city as discussions continued among physicians who failed to reach agreement on the health policy.
Reports describe a volatile dispute over smallpox fears and a dispensary rift in Luverne involving Methodist and Baptist members. The piece notes church expulsions and a clash over the dispensary leadership, with calls to purge supporters of the anti dispensary bill. It mentions local figures such as Dr. Horn and J. M. In Oneonta on April 15 reports say a sale of 6000 to 10000 acres of coal land east of Oneonta to Capt. P. Elliott of the Southern Car Works and New York capitalists has progressed with title abstracts begun. Land may be developed at once with a railroad likely by the L and N.

The Advertiser publishes Governor Saatont's release of Hon. Jobin T. Gorman's report on coal country convict corruption. The document details how officials manipulated Pauline Accounts to convict fifty four Butler county inmates. Twenty pardons were issued this week based on the report with a few others held due to term expirations. Continued on fourth page.
