Returns are coming in as Democratic primaries to select county delegates proceed in Anniston and across the county. Oxford and Oxanna beat meetings named uninstructed delegates and set unit voting, with Darmanville's delegation pledged for Morgan and Blackmon.
A Jacksonville beat meeting convened at noon with six names listed but only four or five could be confirmed. Delegation details remain unclear as delegates prepare to travel and represent the city.

The Philippine Commission departs from San Francisco aboard the Hancock for Manila, with daily meetings planned during the Pacific crossing. Members listed in order of appointment are William H. Taft, Luke B. Wright, Dean Worcester, Henry C. Ide, and Bernard Moses. The voyage aims to reach Manila by May 10 to begin establishing a territorial government.
Glen Addie Hose Company No 2 held a meeting to set arrangements for the annual inter-state tournament in Gadsden on May 16 and 17. Louise Birch and Hattie Manning were chosen sponsor and maid of honor, with Mrs J B Livingston selected as chaperon. A running team will be sent and training starts now.
General Passenger Agent Turk telegraphs from Charlotte that the strike is not stopping train movement. He says less than ten percent of operators have left their posts on the Southern.
Mr. O W Tinney of Wilsonville engineers the strike from the city and states the situation is entirely favorable to the striking operators. He notes several replacement operators have joined the strikers and that he has been in Annaton since yesterday remaining several days.

Dr Roland D Grant arrived this morning and will lecture at Noble Institute tonight on Snakes in Paradise rather than the Pope's Palace as advertised. The lecturer will include political cartoons noted as immensely rich in detail.
