Open House Sunday At Anita's New Motel

The Grand Motel of Anita hosts an open house Sunday June 10 from 2 to 8 PM to showcase its completed facilities. The Anita Chamber of Commerce helped attract Ed Snyder to build the motel, now finished except for minor interior details.

Anita Band Opens Free Summer Concert Series at Park

The Anita public school directed band under Leland Logner will perform tonight at 8 in the recreation park on the town’s north edge. The program runs for about one week, Thursday evenings, with free admission sponsored by the Anita serial system and the Anita Chamber of Commerce. The 30 member band adds a piano, vocal numbers, solos, and junior members. Boy Scouts handle refreshments and transport is provided for those without means to reach the hilltop venue. Anitas Volunteer Fremen Host Dance Rainout

Anita s volunteers staged a rain soaked dance event that raised funds and fun at a park open air platform and I P bus area. About 1 am the crowd moved downtown waiting out a downpour while firemen reported over 200 dollars taken in from 191 tickets sold and the weatherman logged up to 1.5 inches of rain nearby.

Five Entered in Cass Golden Girl Contest June 12

Five girls were nominated as candidates in the Cass County Golden Girl Contest for the June Dairy Month Benefit at the Cass County Community Center. Riley P. Clark, chair, noted judges selected the Golden Girl Monday afternoon and the winner will be announced during the June Dairy Month Benefit on June 12. Nominees include Regina Miller, Norma Ann Miller, Alice June Ryan, Marjorie Young, and Mary Ann Worthington from various townships. Committees plan a fine program and expect large attendance for Cass County’s best June Daily Promotion Day.

Candid Cameraman Supposedly Active on Main Street

A secretive color film maker has been spotted on Main Street for two weeks. The filmmaker plans to show the captured footage next Wednesday evening at the Anita Theatre with a regular feature. The observer notes the cameraperson appeared virtually invisible, making anyone a potential subject. The prompt ends with a call to "ga seu" to uncover the mystery.

Conservation Week Set for June 10 17

Atlantic man Lester Lb. Kluever won the Republican nomination for state representative in Cass County with 1 604 votes. Wendell Rabbstad trailed at 1 084 and Lloyd Hirinert Eulen, a Democrat, received 557. Kluever led in Atlantic precincts and won small margins in Bear Grove and Washington.

Anita Midgets Win Three Straight to Open Season

Anita Midgets beat Audubon 8 5 with Loren Scholl as pitcher and three hits from Ted Knowlton. They then defeated Casey 6 1 behind Loren Scholl’s 16 strikeouts and four hits allowed. Allen Kling led with three hits as Anita won third straight by scoring three runs in the third inning.
