Interurban Extension Plans From Colfax to Newton

Des Moines negotiators consider extending the Fort Des Moines and Southern line by leasing the old Newton and Northwestern route to connect Des Moines with Newton Jasper County. The deal, led by Loy A. Loring as receiver, aims at a 15 000 annual payment for use of the tracks between Goddard and Des Moines Junction, with court deliberations on abandoning the 27 mile segment.
