Death of longtime Atlantic resident John Picken
John Picken a resident of Atlantic for forty years died Wednesday evening September 17 at Atlantic Hospital after an operation for bladder and prostatic trouble He was born February 28 1856 in Burchase Oldenburg Germany and married Caroline Harken April 10 1882 They came to America in 1884 and settled in Atlantic He worked as a baker and was a member of the American Aid Society and a charter member of the Modern Woodmen of America He is survived by his wife seven children Henry Pieken Lena Brehmer Anna Janus John J Pieken Jacob Pieken Emma Brehmer Lincoln township William Pieken Massena and previously deceased daughter Mrs Henry Jipsen and son Frank Pieken Also twenty five grandchildren and a sister in Germany Funeral services were held at 230 Sunday at the Evangelical church in Atlantic conducted by Rev Paul Wuebblen with interment in Atlantic cemetery.
