Frank Wheatley of a farm near Anita drove a truckload of shelled corn onto the east street crossing when a westbound Rock Island passenger engine struck the truck. Death of Anita Pioneer H C Lighter Pioneer Resident Dies
Henry C. Lighter, longtime Anita resident and former mayor, died Sept 8 1920 in Pasadena California after a decline in health at age 106 1 2 months. He served in the 101st Illinois Infantry and later moved to Cass county Iowa Anita and Fort Collins Colorado and was active in Masonic G A R church and education boards. His remains were brought to Fort Collins for burial with his family. Mr Lighter known as Old Hank had deep local ties and a long public career.
