Rock Island businessman Mr. Weldon visits Anita to study establishing a first class hotel run by a national chain. The plan aims to offer furnished rooms, board, and meals at market rates, reviving Anita as a major traveler stop and boosting the town's prominence on the Great White Way.
The Farm Bureau calls for immediate enrollments in the Baby Beef Club for the coming year. About 1,200 to 1,300 county youths aged ten to nineteen are eligible to raise a calf or join club activities. Parents are urged to submit their child names to the Farm Bureau office for prompt assistance and calf selection.
Mrs Vera B Hook secretary and her mother Mrs Flavia C Hook attended the district convention of Rebekah Lodges in Audubon last week. The 1927 district convention with more than two hundred delegates will be held in Anita and local Beckies will greet and welcome them.
Mrs. Louie Carey of Mitchell South Dakota spends the week in Anita and nearby, visiting relatives and old acquaintances. She praises the warm Anita Cass county welcome she receives, noting the genuine old hometown hospitality enjoyed across the country.

Reports from Excelsior Springs Missouri indicate Miss Minnie Forshay’s health is greatly improved after several weeks at the sanatorium. Relatives and friends hope she can soon return home in better general condition.

The District Women’s Fore Missionary Society unit No. 5 met in an all day session November 5 at Anita M. E. church. Presiding was Mrs. Berry of Casey. The program included devotional exercises, a covered-dish dinner, talks on prayer and mission seeds, papers by Mrs. Parrott and Mrs. Westergaard, a Moselem Girl monologue, vocal duets and trio, and a closing prayer by Rev. Rarick. Next meeting planned for Adair in spring.
Miss Grace Winder a former Anita resident and Omaha schools teacher visited the city last week staying with aunts Mrs. E C Porch and Mrs. Chas Ragan. Her mother daughter of the late Mr and Mrs Lee H Griffith taught in the An schools and served as Lincoln June Colorado superintendent. Cass county alumni are widely noted for success in diverse vocations.
Mrs. Hattie Myers Knoll daughter of the late Dell Myers and wife of Rev. Chas. Knoll, former Anita pastor, has returned to Ontario California after visiting relatives in Iowa and Cass county. She spent time with daughter Mrs. W. B. Rich and with Mrs. Euphemia Brown. Her mother Mrs. D. Myers lives with them in Ontario.
Mrs. Amelia King hosts the Ladies' Union Club at her West Main Street home at 1 PM. Members will dine and spend the afternoon sewing for the Iowa Christian Home in Council Bluffs, a yearlong effort praised by officers and inmates.
Former Anita resident Mrs Samuel Speed died November 4 1926 at her Fontanelle area home after a brief illness from ptomaine poisoning. She leaves husband two sons Donald and Gaylord and sister Claire Darrow Omaha. funeral held Fontanelle M and E church with Rev Harwood. burial in Fontanelle cemetery.
As winter nears, several Anita vacant houses are finding new occupants.
Arthur Peterson and his wife Andrea Peterson and a sister traveled to Elk Horn on Sunday to attend a surprise birthday dinner honoring their mother who remains active and in unusually good health. They were joined by Mrs. Louie Carey of Mitchell South Dakota aunt of Mrs. Arthur Peterson visiting Anita and nearby communities.
Mrs G A Roe and her son Jack have spent the past week with her sister Mrs L K Nichols at Clear Lake Iowa. Southeast Anita streets and the connecting township roads have been improved to first class condition this week thanks to Herman Miller and his crew of road builders.
Sherman F Lowell known as the billion dollar kid of fame is spending a week at Mike Metz home in Benton township with friends Mikey Joe and Billy. He engages in husking corn killing rats hunting pole cats and other stunts tied to his grandfather’s era.

The Anita Christian church hosts a Father and Son banquet on Friday at 7 30 with Sup erintendent C W Garlock as toastmaster. Program includes prayers and talks on father son roles in church school and community. A union service follows at the Congregational church next Sunday at 7 30 with related talks.
A county Farm Bureau leader likens two bucks to two farmers when kept apart to prevent fighting. He recalls keeping the last two buck sheep in a small pen until they could not separate, after which they were released and never fought again.
Harold Winder, son of Mr and Mrs Chester T Winder of this city, recently visited Anita and his broad circle of friends. A Anita Public Schools graduate, he attended business college and worked as book-keeper at a local bank. He later played a role at Des Moines banks and now holds a responsible position at a Chariton bank, widely regarded as a trusted employee.
Vera B. Hook recently visited Mason City and spent time with Frank Richey a former Anita resident now inmate at the Odd Fellows Home. Richey who suffered a paralytic stroke months ago is reported in improving condition given his circumstances. The Home provides inmates with comfort and conveniences.
John Row, longtime Anita resident, spent months in Peoria with daughter Laura Buerkin and is in town briefly for business and visiting old friends. Laura Buerkin operates a greenhouse in Peoria with strong demand and good prices. Row will stay several weeks to oversee farm and town property interests.
A neighbor gathering at the Congregational parsonage honored Rev. and Mrs. Robt. N. Chord on their twenty-fifth wedding anniversary. Guests presented an electric toaster and offered best wishes for another twenty-five years of wedded bliss.
A prize will go to the best feature stunt or dance by lower grades at the Anita Athletic Benefit Program held Friday evening November 19 at the High School. The winner will be chosen by a popular vote.
The Father and Son union service replaces the regular evening preaching service at the Congregational church. A discussion of timely subjects and musical selections by the double male quartette and the Boys' Quartette will be featured, and all are invited and urged to attend.
The fire department made two runs Saturday to the dwelling of A. F. Higgins on Main Street where chimney sparks set the roof ablaze. Fire rekindled after initial extinguishment, forcing a second call to quell flames that had gained a start in the garret.
