Broad Iowa vote sweeps GOP slate and Brookhart win
Unusually light turnout across Iowa last Tuesday aided a sweep of the Republican ticket led by Brookhart who defeated Claude R. Porter for U.S. Senate by about 50 000. Anita area turnout was low and county races for Second Third and Fifth Supervisor districts plus State Senator County Attorney and County Treasurer were decided. A death notice recalls Mrs W F Worthing former Anita resident who died in Aztec New Mexico after a long illness with rheumatism.

Condition in Birds Threatens Market Prices
L G Sorden notes ongoing issues in poultry condition due to overcrowding poor feeds and unsanitary housing. Overcrowding and moldy corn depress bird vitality and may trigger further price cuts or a new embargo. Emaciated birds should be culled and intestinal cleaning with epsom salts suggested.

Long-Time Cass County Resident John W Berry Dies
John Wier Berry born March 29 1835 in Petersburg Illinois died October 28 1926 at his son in law and daughter J D Petersons home Anita Iowa after a long farming life. He moved to Cass county in 1867 and built a 500 acre farm. survived by five children nineteen grandchildren and twenty great grandchildren. Services were held at the J D Peterson home in Anita.

Brother Dies in Cleveland Soldier Jim Stauffer Remembered
Bertrand Stauffer of this city mourns the death of his brother Jerome Stauffer who died at Shelter ing Arms hospital in Cleveland Ohio at seventy eight. He lived alone and for years ran canal boats on the Athens to Cleveland docking canal network. He served with the eighty fifth Ohio regiment during the Civil War mainly as a cook and helper after being rejected for enlistment due to health. He is survived by a brother Bertrand of Anita and a sister Mrs Margaret Wycoff of Arrowsmith Illinois.

S. V. Metheny Suffers Stroke On Rural Route
S. V. Metheny, veteran mail carrier on rural routes one and two out of Anita, suffered a slight stroke Tuesday morning and has been confined to his home. His left arm and lower limb were rendered useless for several hours but his condition is now slightly improved.

Falls and Breaks Knee Cap in Accident
Mrs. Ed Weatherby of Lincoln township suffered a severe knee cap fracture after a fall at her home on Tuesday. She was taken to Dr. H. E. Campbell hospital in Anita where an X ray showed an unusually bad fracture. Weatherby was alone at the time and is now recovering.
