Henry Houck of Anita dies at 88 after a seven month bedridden period. Born May 14 1839 in Mt Vernon Ohio he lived in Grundy and Anita Iowa. married twice and father to ten, six surviving. A Christian and respected citizen funeral at the Anita Christian church at 2 00 pm with Elder Wayne Greene conducting and Evergreen cemetery interment.

Fire Destroys Doctor Fish Home in Maple and Iowa Corner
The residence of Dr. W. E. Fish at Maple and Iowa was destroyed by a Friday fire after two hours of battle by the city department. Mrs. Fish was away and furniture on the ground floor saved. second floor lost. Building insured for 2000 and furniture for 500 with Forshay agency. adjustment planned this week. Dr. Fish contemplates rebuilding or not.

Special Grant Township election favors school improvements
The Grant Township special election held Saturday May 5 between 5 and 10 PM approved a seven mill tax or 2500 dollars for a new district 7 schoolhouse by 69 to 48. Voted against a $10,000 bond for district 1 2 4 and 9 schoolhouses by 22 to 97. Anita churches will host Poppy Day programs on Sunday May 20.

Death of Frank R. Wilbourn Esteemed Anita Resident
Frank R. Wilbourn, longtime Anita area resident for 47 years, died May 1 after a three week illness from a second stroke. Born July 9, 1854 in Mount Pleasant, he married Flora Fickel in 1876 and had twelve children. Funeral services were held, with survivors including ten children and many grandchildren.

Former Resident Miller Suffered Slight Paralytic Stroke
