A Cass county special election rejected a one million dollar road bond plan to grade drain and hard surface the primary roads. Total 2 471 yes 4 489 no with Anita and Atlantic wards majority yes. Griswold Massena Cumberland Union and other townships voted no by wide margins. Voters pressed for public highway improvement despite low turnout in some rural precincts.

SPECIAL Miss Marple Clark of Atlantic was the over Sunday guest of E. B. Holton and wife Harold McDermott and wife and G. E. McDermott. Congregational Ladies Aid Society meets Thursday for an all day session at Mrs. Lydia Kuehn Brown's home southwest of Anita with a covered dish lunch. A heavy rain ended many Sunday picnic parties as slick roads slowed travel. no accidents were reported. The shower benefited the corn crop in the area.
