William P. Barrett son in law of Mr and Mrs Val Weigand has been promoted from station agent and other trusted posts to the Claims department. He will now adjust claims and losses filed against the Rock Island system. Barrett is described as capable of filling any railway position he chooses.
Prominent physician Dr J W Barrett dies leaving his daughter Miss Anita and his wife Mrs Bertha Weigand Barrett to grieve. The Barrett family, headed by Mr Barrett, had journeyed to Osage Iowa after learning of the passing of the long time northeast Iowa physician who settled there many years ago and built a notable medical career.
At two in the morning Nightwatchman A. D. Dean guided a car with a man his wife and child through Anita's paving district jungle after pulling the vehicle from a ditch. The occupants expressed gratitude for the safe passage.
