The Local Board of Health of Anita Iowa, meeting December 10 1918, requires closing all public gathering places except schools and churches. Social functions and lodge meetings are halted unless Mayor permission is granted. Moving picture theatres must stay at or below seventy degrees and every other seat left vacant.

Mrs Ora Moreland a former Anita resident now farms near Grant City Missouri owns a world record pullet. Hatched April 6 1918 she reached laying age in six months and hatched a brood of six on October 6 1918. The bird’s production is linked to wartime urgency.

Wm. E. Main writes from McHenry North Dakota to Sherm recounting sending a money order for two bones and noting Kate’s safe return and gain of fourteen pounds. He describes starting his eighth year selling postcards for Uncle Sam, braving extreme cold and drifting snow on a 30.5 mile route and wishing luck to Sherm and family.

Bennie Muntendam 31 and his wife 30 died within a week of Spanish influenza. Bennie owned and edited the Elliott Graphic. funeral at Evergreen Cemetery Anita conducted by Rev. Eben A. Thomas. Bodies moved to Anita for burial after service in Elliott. Obituaries to run in the RECORD next week.
