Temperance Society Holds County Convention at Alford Center
Allegany County Temperance Society met in convention at Alford Center on Tuesday afternoon June 1 1869. Delegations from several towns attended though smaller than expected. Resolutions on temperance reform were debated with interest and a motion to make the issue political was prepared for the next meeting. Eupemia Bani was asked to lead the discussion. Addresses were delivered by Rev. Mr Sroore of Richburg and President Bene Gilfred Wateoselly. The convention adjourned to Angelica to meet August 24 1869.

Floral Memorial Services at Pine Grove in Fillmore
A floral memorial service in Pine Grove Fillmore on Saturday persons gathered at the Wesleyan Church for wreaths bouquets and a graveyard procession. A Marine band led the march to the cemetery where an address and hymns honored fallen soldiers. About four to five hundred attendees assisted by local clubs and clergy. The event closed with a ceremonial poem and a prayer.
