Lee Grant remains a patient at the local hospital. Mr and Mrs R L Harrell of Odessa are hospitalized at Andrews hospital after a Sunday automobile accident. L T Trantham was admitted June 24 to the hospital. Mrs Gene Irwin admitted Monday morning. Mrs Raymond Van Zandt was a recent patient at the hospital.

Andrews Man Shot in Brownwood
Luther McConnell 36 a resident of Andrews and oil field worker in Brownwood was shot four times by Yates Harwell 51 Snyder contractor. McConnell, owner of a farm southeast of town, held his three year old daughter in his arms when shot. Harwell told neighbors call the police Ive shot him. Divorce talks preceded the shooting with Harwell and wife recently filing for divorce in this county. McConnell has been married twice and is divorced from his second wife.

Drilling Crew Moves Into Andrews Area
A Thompson and Car Drilling crew moved into Andrews on Thursday and by late afternoon all 15 families were located. The crew will drill a well in the Shafter Lake area after relocating from Big Lake where a well was just completed. They expect to be there about 30 days.

Andrews Girl Scout Executive Council holds an executive session in the commissioners court room with nine members. They donate 300 to the Mitre Peak Camp for a refrigerator. Andrews schools donate a 28 passenger bus for summer camp with Bill Wyatt driving. Seventeen intermediate girls depart Andrews for a week at camp under Miss Susie Patterson and Mrs Wanda Vaughn. Fraizer’s troop and Kendell Carruth head to camp Saturday. the bus will pick them up there.

Hal Lonis owner of the Hi Way Garage begins building a tile 100 by 100 foot station on the site of the former garage facing Highway 51.
