Hundreds attend Chick Campbell's retirement banquet in Andrews Texas as 42 years of oil patch work across Fullerton field and Pan Am history are recalled. Pan Am honors Chick Campbell at retirement dinner

Pan American associates, including Bill Kimbrough and Alex Clark, honored Chick Campbell known as Oilman’s Oilman at a Friday retirement dinner attended by nearly 400. The tribute noted his 42 years with Pan American and Stanolind, his work in East Texas Hobbs Andrews, and his hobbies barbecue, hunting, fishing and golf.

Rotary Installation Scheduled in Odessa

Dr. Jack Rodgers will install new Rotary officers on Wednesday with Jim Dotson as president and Dean Davis as vice president. New directors include Gerald McCaskill, Bill Gordon, Pete Millican, Reed Price, and officers Joe Weatherby and Evans Holland. The club also honored rodeo queens Forrest Ann and Billie Guest.

Pope Services Set in Menard

Funeral services for C. A. Pope, longtime Andrews resident, are set for today at 2 p.m. at the Menard Baptist Church. Pope died suddenly early Saturday in Menard. He retired last year from Humble in Andrews and moved to Menard. Survivors include his widow Margie and two sons.

Five Andrewsans Injured in Wreck Near Kermit

Five Andrews men were taken to Memorial Hospital in Ker mit after their car collided with a parked truck near Sandhills Park 8.1 miles northeast of Kermit. All suffered non life threatening injuries. the crash occurred at 10 20 p.m. and was blamed on van headlights causing confusion.

Horse Dragging Incident In McKinney Acres Injures Youth

Wayne Rucker was hospitalized after being dragged about fifty feet by a horse in McKinney Acres. He and Buddy Robinson had been exercising the horse when it bucked he was thrown and foot caught in the stirrup. He was kept for observation with injuries including abrasions and possible internal damage.

PBRR Advances Economic Survey With Letters to Shippers

The Permian Basin Railroad plans a professional freight study contracted to Economic Research Associates. Letters to over 1,000 area shippers request cooperation as ICC orders Seagraves to Odessa railroad completion by 1968. Field surveys run by local Chamber teams aim to map total goods movement and support financing and certificate issuance.

Trail Riders Head to Pecos Rodeo Trek

Nearly 200 riders from the West Texas Trail Riders Association are expected in Andrews to begin the four day trek to Pecos. They meet at the Andrews Posse Barn, ride to Three Bar, spend nights in Kermit and Pyote, and finish with a parade in Pecos. Joe Zant invites newcomers to join before Monday evening.

House Burns on Nichols Property After Windmill Vandalism

Charlie Nichols watches a vacant house on Ruskin Road eight miles south of the Big Spring Highway burn to the ground despite Andrews firemen efforts. The windmill had been chopped down previously and fresh footprints were found at the steps. Sheriff's officials note a pattern of nearby arson threats and prior vandalism, while Nichols vows to rebuild with a metal windmill.

Top Twenty Delinquents Targeted in City Tax Action

The council authorized the tax collection attorney to send a second letter to delinquent taxpayers and then file suits after a week against the top twenty delinquents. Additional measures include rate changes for telephone service and PBX trunks, upgrades to street lighting, and calendar of city annexations and appointments. Guardsmen Leave For Fort Hood On Saturday

The 974th Quartermaster Company United States Army Reserve stationed at Midland Odessa Regional Airport departs Saturday June 24 for two weeks of annual active duty training at Fort Hood Texas. A platoon of 70 Reservists including 2 officers will train with Regular Army personnel at South Fort Hood with four nights in the field during the second week. Commanding officer is First Lieutenant George E Moore of Midland. The unit includes enlisted and officers from Midland Odessa Andrews Monahans Big Lake Lubbock Lamesa and Stanton. They will return Saturday July 8 by bus.

Statewide Realtor Officer to Visit Local Board Luncheon

Break-In At Local Moose Lodge Reported

A break-in occurred after midnight Wednesday at the Moose Lodge Club. Deputies report entry through a broken front door lock and over $250 stolen from cigarette machines and a juke box.
