Strong Winds Do Major Damage In Andrews Storm
Strong northeast winds ripped the Milwhite Mud Service Co warehouse roof on South Butane Road and shattered three large showroom glass windows at Martin Chevrolet. Antennas were blown off, trees damaged, and minor destruction reported as a storm moved through Andrews around 1 30 a m with about one tenth inch of rain. Mean Camp at Florey saw a separate violent storm bringing an inch and a half of rain and four hours of darkness as lightning struck a power line four miles west of town. Twenty three spans of line were down. electricity returned shortly before midnight. Other areas saw only traces of rain.

Youth Recreation Program Nears Friday Closure
The school offers a four week summer recreation program ending Friday announced by Athletic Director Glenn Frazier. Girls PE teachers Miss Kathleen Helveston and Miss Jo Ann Brown cite daily attendance of 50 girls in sport classes. Boys program leaders Max Goldsmith and Vernon Johnson report 65 to 70 youngsters daily. Golf instructor G W Warden notes seven to seventeen young golfers at the course. All participants are bused to Andrews County pool for free morning swimming.

Little Girls Return From Kerrville Lions Camp
Three handicapped girls Patsie McKinney Nancy Chapman and Betty Frances Thomas spent two weeks at the Texas Lions League Camp for Crippled Children in Kerrville. Lions club members statewide sponsor placements and training counselors supervised activities including a overnight camp out at Inspiration Point and a published report by Patsie and Joan Mitchell.

Cabot No 8 Bertha Nolley in Nolley Wolfcamp shows 297 bpd oil in 24 hours via a 16/64 choke from 4,504 feet depth and 31° gravity oil. Funeral Held For Slater Payne Son Of Vernon Payne
Funeral services for six month old Slater Lee Payne son of Mr and Mrs Verner Payne were held at Means Memorial Methodist Church with N S Daniel officiating. Burial followed at the local cemetery under Singleton's Funeral Home. The infant died after a color change at home en route to Permian General Hospital while the mother was at church. Survived by parents, a brother Doak and sister Kippy, paternal grandparents E C Payne of Levelland and maternal grandparents Theo Brigance of Big Spring. Pallbearers included Coach Max Goldsmith and Asst Supt M O Woolam.
