A benefit softball game between Eunice American Legion and Hathcock-Noble is set for tonight to aid Ham Pinnell who broke his leg sliding into home. He was treated by a bone specialist in Abilene and sent home earlier this week. No admission. hat collection. Likely last game of the season.

Graham Man To Be Manager of Western Lumber

J R Bills Jr of Graham Texas will become manager of Western Lumber in Andrews replacing Robert Wheeley who has led the firm since January 1946 and is headed to Tyler to oversee the lumber company there Bills will relocate his family to Andrews as soon as a house is found He is married with one son Jimmy five and says he has spent 12 years with a Graham lumber firm.

Champion Co. Nets 643 Barrel Well at 8141 Feet

Champion Oil Company reports a productive well in section 4 block 11, Embar pool. Superintendent E. E. Denny announced the 643 barrel per day test over 24 hours through a 24 by 64 choke at 8,141 feet depth with 634 pounds of flowing pressure. County Borrows 30000 To Meet Salary Expenses

Andrews County commission ers court borrowed thirty thousand dollars this week to tide them over until taxes are paid in October. The loan will cover salaries for July August and September. The quarterly report shows the Road and Bridge fund at 51846.42 while general fund totals 4541.57 Hospital fund 1811.00 permanent improvement fund 1425.18 and jury fund 4426.65. It costs about 14000 monthly to pay all county employees and road and commissioners salaries are paid from the road and bridge fund.

Frankel City Gets Post Office

The Postal Department grants a post office for Frankel City with G W Blanchard named postmaster. Construction starts on a new building and service expected by August 16. Mail will be carried from Midland by star route, with hoped early delivery once the Big Spring road is paved.

Fullerton Church To Have Revival Meeting

A revival at the Fullerton Baptist church begins August 8 with Rev. J. H. Bunch of Fort Worth delivering the sermons. Services are scheduled each morning and evening, and the public is invited to attend.

Andrews Schools Conclude Ten Weeks Summer Recreation

The Andrews district wraps up a ten week program for 80 boys aged seven to fifteen who played basketball softball and swam with equipment provided by the school and a county pool. Forty boys learned to swim while four teams competed under lights and beverages were provided by fathers and local merchants. Girls program ends with about 50 participants aged 6 to 16 learning games creative movement music and swimming with two age groups meeting mornings and evenings culminating in Friday refreshments and a Roberts Park picnic for older girls.
