Wildcat Drilling Finds Oil at University Prospect in Andrews County
In Southeast Andrews County a Wildcat drilled by JE. Jones Drilling Co. completed a pumping discovery from the Grayburg with 203.07 barrels of 27.6 gravity oil in 24 hours after 2,500 gallons of acid. The well lies nine miles southeast of Andrews in section 9, block 2 University survey. Cities Service Oil Co. completed No. 1 University in Wolfcamp production in Central Andrews, producing 144 barrels of 38 4 gravity oil plus 2 percent water in 24 hours from 8,600-26 feet after 3,000 gallons of acid. The Ellenburger pay remains productive at 12,320 feet. A third project, British-American Oil Producing Co. No. 1 University, surfaced gas and oil in the Clear Fork, testing below 7,472 feet. The University Central Andrews County wildcat flowed gas, oil, and water on a Pennsylvanian test from 9,702-770 feet with oil, mud, and water production and substantial saltwater content.

Two year old Donnie Winn escaped serious harm when a back wheel of a friend’s pickup rolled over his back after a shopping trip for a Christmas tree. He suffered a displaced vertebra and minor scratches but was unhurt overall, treated at Permian General Hospital and released after overnight observation thanks to quick action and recent caliche dirt on the driveway.
